About Me

Kia ora, I’m Tina

I’m a registered nurse specialised in urology and uro-gynaecology, offering practical, nurse-led continence care in Northland. I bring over 14 years of experience in urology and urology nursing, having worked across Switzerland and Aotearoa New Zealand in specialist outpatient settings. Throughout my career, I’ve supported people with a wide range of bladder, bowel, and pelvic health concerns, always with a strong focus on dignity, trust, and individualised care.

My approach

My practice is grounded in patient-centred, evidence-based care, guided by the principles of Tāngata i te Tuatahi (People First), Whakaute (Respect), Whakawhitiwhiti Kōrero (Communication), and Te Hiranga (Excellence). I aim to create a calm, safe space where continence concerns can be discussed openly and without judgement.

I work alongside you to develop a clear, practical plan that fits your lifestyle, and I support appropriate referrals to GPs, specialists, or allied health professionals when needed.

Clinical background

I currently work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Uro-Gynaecology in Whangārei and am involved in uro-gynaecology health specialist visits to the Cook Islands. My previous roles include senior urology positions in both New Zealand and Switzerland, including work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Deputy Charge Nurse in a large university hospital.

My clinical experience includes:

  • Nurse-led continence clinics

  • Vaginal pessary follow-up management

  • Bladder instillations and intravesical therapies

  • Intermittent self-catheterisation education and support

  • Video urodynamics and continence assessment

  • Pelvic floor and bladder symptom management

  • Patient education across the lifespan

  • Multidisciplinary collaboration and care coordination

Education and professional development

I have completed postgraduate Continence Management studies at the University of Otago and regularly engage in professional development to ensure my practice remains current and evidence-based. I’m also an active member of the International Continence Society, Australian, and European urology nursing associations, maintaining strong international clinical connections.

Continence Care Northland

I established Continence Care Northland to provide accessible, nurse-led continence support locally — offering time, expertise, and continuity of care without long waits. Whether your concerns are recent or long-standing, my goal is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in your care.

Work Experience

2011 - present

Since 2011, I have worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and registered nurse specialising in urology and uro-gynaecology, with clinical experience spanning Switzerland and Aotearoa New Zealand. My practice has focused on specialist outpatient care, nurse-led clinics, patient education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

I held a senior role at the University Hospital Zurich, working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Deputy Charge Nurse in urology outpatients for over seven years. During this time, I provided advanced urological and uro-gynaecological nursing care, led nurse-run clinics, supported complex treatments and investigations, and contributed to staff training, service coordination, and clinical governance.

Since locating to New Zealand, I have continued to work in specialist urology and uro-gynaecology services in Northland, including roles within Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau, private urology outpatient services, and my current position as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Uro-Gynaecology in Whangārei. My work includes continence assessment, pessary care, catheter management, bladder instillation support, patient education, and coordination of care across primary and specialist services.

I am also involved in uro-gynaecology health specialist outreach to the Cook Islands, supporting continuity of care, education, and specialist service delivery. Across all roles, my focus has remained on evidence-based practice, patient-centred care, cultural safety, and education, supporting people with bladder, bowel, and pelvic health conditions across the lifespan.
